Why I Am Quitting Social Media (And Came Back to Blogging)

November 2, 2025

And so it happened: I got utterly sick of social media.
So here I am — back to blogging, like we used to do in the Middle Ages.

You know, I’m a writer. And because of Instagram & Co., I’ve been writing less. That’s not only heartbreaking — it’s cutting into my bread and butter. Storytelling is what I do, and those 90-second videos? They’re not stories.

I’m a woman, and women need time to warm up… if you know what I mean.

I Miss Long-Form Writing (and Long Kisses)

I miss long-form content the way I miss slow kisses and movies that don’t start with a car crash just to hold our worse-than-a-goldfish attention span.

I’m tired of being bombarded with information I never asked for — and when I finally search for something I do want, some goblin of an AI has already summarized it for me like I’m three years old.

I hate it.
Okay, not all of it. AI helps me speed up my creative process — but I don’t want it doing all the work. It steals the joy of discovery, the fumbling in the dark, the pride of figuring things out on my own.

Creative Burnout Is Real

Maybe this sounds like a rant, but it’s really a long-overdue spillover. I can’t be the only one who’s exhausted — and social media plays a huge part in it.
I can’t create content for it anymore. I just can’t.

And yes, maybe I’m dooming my beautiful, unknown publishing company in the process — but it feels right to write this for you.

Maybe you just googled “am I the only one who wants to quit social media?” and found this desperate post from a writer you’ve never heard of — but who made you smirk a little and nod along.

The Stories That Should Stay

This is a space for things I believe deserve to stay:
the lessons in old folk tales,
the gentle soul-awakening that stirs when we wander through worlds of magic, wonder, and darkness —
the ones that take us by the hand and whisper that everything will be alright in the end.
That yes, we’ll slay this dragon too.

Or maybe I’m just shouting into the void and no one’s listening — but that’s what happens on social media anyway.
At least here, I can hear my own thoughts and watch my shadows dance.

If you made it this far — welcome to Halls in the Forest.
I hope you stay.
And I hope you dance with us.
